To all my ladies out there, bravely admitting it's happened to them too. I'm with you. I see you. We're all in this together.
I'm writing this for my three daughters and my one son. I'm writing this for every little girl that was never told what life had in store for her. For every girl that was only told ¨boys only want one thing¨; but, never told how far they would go to get that thing or how relentless they would be in pursuit of it.
I'm writing this for that little girl I used to be, before it happened so many times I forgot my purpose and who I was. Before it happened so many times, I thought it was normal.
For every woman that's ever been told to just relax, let it happen, don't be scared, stop being prude. #metoo
For every woman who's ever had an unwanted hand graze across her chest or her bottom. Who's questioned if it happened on purpose...#metoo
For every woman that's had to leave a job because a co-worker messaged her every day, made sexual comments and advances. #metoo
For every woman who's gotten graphic pictures or detailed descriptions of what someone would do to you...or just letting you know that they're thinking about you, right now. #metoo
For every young girl who is enjoying being young. Letting her guard down and trusting her friends. That drinks a little too much and falls prey to the guy just waiting to take advantage of you. #metoo
For every woman that has to look down or away. Who has to avoid eye contact from an aggressive stranger that's nodding at them or whistling at them, calling at them. #metoo
For every woman who's "no" was ever dismissed. That pulled away; but, didn't feel strong enough to avoid their kiss or their hands....or worse. #metoo
For every woman who ever walked away thinking it was her fault. Questioning if she smiled too much, wore the wrong thing...led them on...#metoo
For every woman that has felt vulnerable or afraid. #metoo
For every woman that has ever been made to feel pressured or wrong about not wanting the same thing. #metoo
For every woman that has told herself, it's fine. It is what it is. Just put up with it. #metoo
For every woman or girl that has felt less than and small. It's not you, it's them. You are strong, smart and beautiful. They are small-minded and weak.
For every man that says to get over it. To stop being so dramatic. That it doesn't happen to all of us. We asked for it. We knew what we were getting into. For every eye roll and sigh of dismissal. #fuckyou
